    Fountains Project Update

Inter-Cal Real Estate, owned by Peter P. Bollinger, has advised us that they are meeting with tenants about building design criteria and will shortly apply for building permits. As they have told us, they will develop the east side (adjacent to Harding) as Phase I. They expect Phase I to be finished in the fall to spring 2008 time frame. The west side (adjacent to our residential area) is Phase II and this will not be started until about one year after completion of Phase I. However Maggiano’s Restaurant will be build on the Phase II side corner of Reserve and Roseville Parkway as part of Phase I.

The following tenants will be located in The Fountains: Whole Foods, Orvis, Z Gallerie, Ecco Shoes, Boudin Bakery, Euro Walk, Soma's by Chico, White House/Black Market, Coldwater Creek, West Elm, Boudin Bakery, Sur la Table, DSW Shoes, Jos. A. Banks, Centro, Anthropologie, Maggiano’s Restaurant, and Lucy Activewear.

For those who are interested in following the progress of The Fountains project, additional information about tenants and progress can be found at The Fountains. …. John Smith

    Traffic Discussed at May Meeting

Many of you came to the May meeting to discuss the traffic volume and speed on Diamond Oaks Road. (Some one at the meeting referred to our street as “Diamond Oaks Highway”.) Many points of view came forward from the discussion and via emails received.

One surprising conclusion that emerged from the discussion was that many who drive D. O. are unaware that they are in a residential zone. A focus on ways to raise this awareness might be an effective path toward reduced speed and noise.

Our neighborhood has a lot of pedestrians, yet crossing the street by foot is not always safe.
The speed bumps used on other streets in other cities are not acceptable for many reasons.

While on a road trip recently, we found some towns where they employed a very low slowly rising “speed bump/pedestrian crosswalk” to protect the safety of the pedestrian and to slow traffic. It was usually made of different color or material hard surface, and was attractive.

This might be a potential solution to our problem. If you would like to work on a small committee to develop a petition, gather signatures and take to the City government, please email Shirley at shirley@surewest.net, or call 783-7605.
New police number for complaints about persistent problems like ignoring stop signs or speeding : 746-1023.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT –Fun, Music, Food Success!

The DONA National Night Out was a great success and everyone who attended seemed to have an enjoyable evening. Most of us managed to meet neighbors who we had not previously talked with. We had representatives of the Fire Dept, the Police Dept, including the Chief of Police, City Council Members and City Staff. The children particularly enjoyed themselves with the Bounce House and the 10 gallons of ice cream that we served.

THANK YOU to all those who worked at the event or loaned us equipment, we would not have been able to have the event without the help of so many great volunteers from our neighborhood. There are too many volunteers to name and we probably do not have everyone’s name. One person does have to be mentioned and that is Roxanne Curtis who coordinated the business tables, which helps pay for the event. She also handled many other jobs such as putting out the signs and posters. Thanks again to everyone who helped….John Smith
